Take the NYC 2026 School Survey

Encouraging your child to take advantage of this opportunity is a great idea. It's a chance for them to get extra support. Teachers staying after hours is a valuable resource that can make a big difference, and it's a fantastic way for students to get the help they need in a more focused, personalized setting.

We are planning a Multicultural Night at our school to celebrate the diverse cultures and traditions within our community. We would love to know if you would be interested in participating—whether by sharing food, music, clothing, artifacts, or a presentation that represents your family’s heritage. The HCMS Drumline will be performing in the Rockaway St. Patrick’s Day Parade this Saturday, March 7th. We would love to see our school community along the parade route and welcome anyone who would like to march with us!

Keeping your child engaged at HCMS

Black History Month celebration will be postponed due to inclement weather.

The Mayor and the NYC Schools Chancellor have just announced on social media and all news channels that school will be in session tomorrow, Tuesday, February 24.
HCMS will be open tomorrow morning for breakfast at 7:00 am and we will follow our regular instructional day schedule (7:30am -1:50pm).
After school clubs and teams will be cancelled tomorrow: Student Council, Gardening Club, African Dance, Basketball.
GRYC will be in session after school tomorrow.

The state granted a waiver for extenuating circumstances due to the blizzard and our calendar days will remain unaffected. NYC pubic schools will not remain in session. There will be no remote learning. Check your emails for more details. Everyone stay safe and enjoy the day!
